Bio

Since his early childhood, Kyle Pogline has always been drawn towards art and creation. His early obsession with visual art and crafts evolved into a strong passion for music at age 11 when he picked up the trumpet. He grew up listening to a wide variety of music, but during high school really took a deep interest in jazz and Black American Music styles.

Kyle is a very adept and competent improvisor taking direct influence from the hard bop styles of Freddie Hubbard and Clifford Brown. His debut professional release, “Closure” is an EP made up of entirely his own compositions and features some of Canada’s best young talent. It has recently received international attention through the project’s title track being added to Spotify’s editorial playlist, “All New Jazz”.

Kyle has recently become a Juno award winner through his work with Caity Gyorgy on her 2021 release, “Now Pronouncing: Caity Gyorgy” featured on the Brooklyn, NY record label, “La Reserve”.

Since moving to Toronto in 2017, Kyle has established himself as one of the city’s premier up-and-coming jazz trumpet players. Throughout his time in the city he’s amassed a wide variety of performance experience including jazz big bands, jazz small ensembles, brass quartets, salsa bands as well as pop horn sections.
